Privacy policy

Who is responsible

AI News is published by YPETIT (28 rue du Mont Asselin, 76190 Yvetot, France), which is the data controller. For any question about your data, write to ai-news@ypetit.net.

What AI News stores about you

  • No account, no registration, no cookie and no tracking by AI News.
  • Preferences in your browser (local storage): theme, display style, language, favourite, archived and read articles, the time of your last visit, disabled sources, and your answer to the translation question below. They stay on your device, are never sent to a server and disappear when you clear the site data of your browser.

Audience measurement

The site uses Umami (self-hosted), hosted on our own server (core.ypetit.net). It does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses or any other personal data, does not profile visitors and shares nothing with third parties; it only records aggregated visit statistics (pages viewed, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, country).

Like any web server, the analytics server keeps technical access logs (IP address, date, requested URL, browser identifier) for about 7 days, for security purposes only (detecting abuse). They are not used for audience measurement and are not shared. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in securing the service.

Without cookies or identifiers, the site also counts a few actions in aggregate: opening an article (article reference, source, kind and view used), adding an article to favourites, changing the view or the language. These counts are not linked to a person. Your searches, your favourites list and your reading history stay in your browser.

The measurement respects the "Do Not Track" setting of your browser. You can also turn it off on this browser with the button below (the choice is kept in your local storage).

Third parties

  • Advertising: an ad unit from A-Ads is embedded in the pages. According to A-Ads, its ad units are plain HTML with no JavaScript and no cookies, and it does not collect personal data from visitors. As with any embedded content, your browser still contacts its servers, and Google Fonts from inside the ad frame, which therefore receive your IP address and browser information. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser's site, which has its own policy. AI News receives none of this data.
  • Translation (only with your consent): when the interface language differs from an article's language, the site asks whether titles and excerpts may be translated with Google Translate. Until you accept, nothing is sent and articles stay in their original language, and their links open the original page directly. If you accept, the text of the articles you see and your IP address are sent from your browser to Google (translate.googleapis.com), and article links open through its translation proxy. You can change your answer at any time with the "Translation" link in the footer.
  • Pre-translated titles: on the language pages (for example /fr/), article titles may be translated in advance by DeepL when the site is built. Only the public titles of the articles are sent, from our build server, never any data about you; your browser does not contact DeepL.
  • Hosting: the site is served by GitLab Inc. (GitLab Pages), which processes technical logs (including IP addresses) under its own policy.
  • External links: publishers' sites, the donation page and the source repository have their own policies.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction or erasure of personal data concerning you, and object to its processing. AI News holds no personal data beyond what is described above, but you can write to ai-news@ypetit.net. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
